Pak Defence Minister Accuses Imran Khan Of Taking Country Into "Bloodshed"

Pakistan's Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Sunday accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supremo Imran Khan of taking Pakistan into bloodshed and chaos, adding that the former prime minister should stop calling the army for help and do politics alone as no one will help him now, The News International reported. Asif made these statements while addressing a press conference at his residence in Sialkot, Pakistan. The News International report further quoted Asif as saying that the PTI had the platform of assemblies they rejected, and now they were asking the institutions to facilitate them for talks with the government. He said Khan made baseless accusations and allegations against former President Asif Ali Zardari like Zardari wanted to get Khan killed. Due to this, there was fear of bloodshed in Pakistan's politics and at that time if anything would have happened, Khan would have been responsible, the report stated. He further mentioned that the leaders of the

Over 1,000 US Flights Cancelled Due To Winter Storm

More than 1,000 Monday flights into or out of the United States have been canceled due to a severe winter storm, with about half of those coming from Southwest Airlines Co. A total of 1,019 flights were canceled as of 6:00 pm ET, according to flight-tracking service FlightAware. Low-cost carrier Southwest earlier this month faced U.S. government backlash for canceling 16,700 flights over the holidays as it grappled with bad weather and outdated technology. The company has scrapped about 12% of its Monday schedule, while American Airlines Group Inc has canceled 6%, or 200 flights. The fresh cancellations come as the U.S. aviation sector recovers from a nationwide ground stop imposed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) over a computer issue. For Tuesday so far, 797 flights are scheduled to be canceled into or out of the United States. Southwest Airlines and other major U.S. airlines have issued winter weather waivers. A waiver allows customers to change their itinerary wit

Putin "Threatened Me" With Missile Attack, Claims UK PM Boris Johnson

President Vladimir Putin threatened to personally target Boris Johnson with a missile attack just before ordering Russian forces into Ukraine, the former UK prime minister has claimed. The apparent threat came in a phone call just ahead of the invasion on February 24, according to a new BBC documentary to be broadcast on Monday. Johnson and other Western leaders had been hurrying to Kyiv to show support for Ukraine and try to deter a Russian attack. "He sort of threatened me at one point and said, 'Boris, I don't want to hurt you, but with a missile, it would only take a minute', or something like that," Johnson quoted Putin as saying. Johnson emerged as one of the most impassioned Western backers of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. But prior to the invasion, he says he was at pains to tell Putin that there was no imminent prospect of Ukraine joining NATO, while warning him that any invasion would mean "more NATO, not less NATO" on Russia'

He made the averment upon the conclusion of the party's two-day state executive meeting in North Bihar district of Darbhanga. "We have sought to stamp out rumours among our party cadre about such a realignment. Of course, the CM has the proclivity to oscillate like a pendulum. But we are not going to be cheated by him again", said the BJP leader whose party lost power in Bihar when Kumar and JD(U) walked out of an alliance with the saffron party to stitch together a new one with RJD and Congress. "Nitish Kumar has grown hugely unpopular. It was his unpopularity that had caused his JD(U) to perform badly in assembly polls of 2020, when we did much better", said Mr Jaiswal. Uncontrolled Construction Caused Joshimath's Land Subsidence, Say Experts

Unplanned and uncontrolled construction in the name of development in Uttarakhand has brought Joshimath on the brink of sinking, experts said on Saturday and demanded that Himalayas be declared an eco-sensitive zone. In a resolution passed at the roundtable organised by the Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), experts termed as "inadequate" the steps taken to deal with the prevailing situation in subsidence-hit Joshimath. They also asked the government to consider taking long-term measures to address the problem, saying a similar situation may arise in Nainital, Mussoorie and other areas of Garhwal as well if the "so-called development driven by human greed" is not checked in the hill state. "Declare Himalayas as an eco-sensitive zone. Regulate big projects causing devastation," the resolution said. "Crossing Red Line": North Korea Slams US For Pledging Tanks To Ukraine

North Korea on Saturday denounced U.S. pledges of battle tanks to Ukraine, claiming Washington was "further crossing the red line" to win hegemony by proxy war, state media KCNA reported. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's powerful sister, Kim Yo Jong, made the remarks in a statement carried by KCNA, saying that North Korea will "stand in the same trench" as Russia against the United States. The United States said this week it would supply Ukraine with 31 of its most advanced battle tanks after Germany made a similar announcement. This scrapped a taboo in Western support for Ukraine's battle against Russia's invasion by pledging arms that have a mainly offensive purpose. "I express serious concern over the U.S. escalating the war situation by providing Ukraine with military hardware for ground offensive," Kim Yo Jong said in the statement. The United States and Western countries "have neither right nor justification to slander sovereign

Justin Bieber Sells Music Rights For $200 Million

Pop juggernaut Justin Bieber has sold his music publishing and recording catalog shares to the Blackstone-backed Hipgnosis Songs Capital for $200 million, the company said Tuesday -- marking the industry's latest blockbuster rights deal. The sale has been rumored for weeks, and sees the 28-year-old join a who's who of artists who have cashed out recently on their catalogs. Hipgnosis did not publicly disclose terms of the deal, but a source close to the matter told AFP it was worth around $200 million. Contemporary stars including Justin Timberlake and Shakira have sold large stakes in their work -- both also struck deals with Hipgnosis -- but the move has mostly been seen among legacy artists like Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. The staggering sums -- Springsteen's catalog went to Sony for a reported half a billion dollars -- are considered safe bets both for older artists getting their finances in order and investors who can count on consistent returns from time-teste

In his latest book 'Never Give an Inch: Fighting for the America I Love' that hit the stores on Tuesday, Pompeo says that the incident took place when he was in Hanoi for the US-North Korea Summit on February 27-28 and his team worked overnight with both New Delhi and Islamabad to avert this crisis. The truth is, I don't know precisely the answer either; I just know it was too close," Pompeo writes. Musk added, however, that there was "some karma around 420", though "I should question whether that is good or bad karma at this point." The case revolves around a pair of tweets in which Musk said

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has sacked the country's army chief, Julio Cesar de Arruda, in the wake of riots earlier this month by supporters of former leader Jair Bolsonaro, military sources told AFP Saturday. Arruda had only taken up the post on December 30, two days before the end of Bolsonaro's mandate, and was confirmed by Lula's administration in early January. He will be replaced by southeastern army commander Tomas Ribeiro Paiva, GloboNews reported. Arruda had taken part in Lula's first meeting with his military top brass on Friday. Neither made a statement at the conclusion of those discussions. The move comes days after Lula removed several dozen soldiers from his security detail following the unrest. On January 8, Bolsonaro supporters ransacked the presidential palace, Supreme Court and Congress in Brasilia, breaking windows and furniture, destroying priceless works of art, and leaving graffiti messages calling for a military coup.
