Security personnel have recovered explosives and a "Remote Initiation Mechanism" for improvised explosive devices (IED) in Manipur where soldiers continue patrolling areas affected by ethnic clashes, the army said on Thursday. The Codex Sassoon -- which dates to the late ninth to early tenth century -- is the earliest, most complete Hebrew Bible ever discovered. It was sold by Sotheby's following a four-minute bidding battle between two bidders, the auction house said in a statement. On Requests Challenging Jallikattu, Supreme Court Verdict Tomorrow

The Supreme Court is scheduled to pronounce on Thursday its judgement on a batch of pleas challenging Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra laws allowing the traditional bull-taming sport 'Jallikattu' and bullock cart races. "Jallikattu", also known as "Eruthazhuvuthal", is a bull-taming sport played in Tamil Nadu as part of the Pongal harvest festival. A five-judge Constitution bench headed by Justice K M Joseph is likely to pronounce its verdict. As per the cause list published on the Supreme Court's website, a single judgement will be pronounced by Justice Aniruddha Bose. The petitions, including one filed by animal rights body PETA, have challenged the state law that allowed the bull-taming sport in Tamil Nadu. Gunmen attacked a US convoy in southeast Nigeria's Anambra State on Tuesday, police and a US official said, killing four people and abducting three others. Eight persons were arrested for allegedly duping multiple banks to the tune of Rs 23 crore by floating over a dozen bogus companies and taking loans using forged documents like Aadhaar and PAN cards of non-existing employees, police said here on Tuesday. The bogus companies had opened the accounts of its non-existing employees and even deducted provident fund (PF) from their salaries in order to ensure that the existence of the firms is not put under doubt by banks in giving the loans, they said.  At least 15 people were killed in a bloody clash over the delimitation of a coal mine in the restive northwestern region of Pakistan on Monday, police said.
