A 35-year-old man was brutally killed and his body was set on fire allegedly by his father and other family members in Ambad taluka in Jalna district of Maharashtra, police said on Wednesday, adding the accused persons are arrested. Prima facie, the man was killed by his father, brother, and son as they were fed up with his addiction to liquor and ganja, a police official said. The Supreme Court is scheduled to pronounce on Thursday its judgement on a batch of pleas challenging Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra laws allowing the traditional bull-taming sport 'Jallikattu' and bullock cart races. "Jallikattu", also known as "Eruthazhuvuthal", is a bull-taming sport played in Tamil Nadu as part of the Pongal harvest festival. A five-judge Constitution bench headed by Justice K M Joseph is likely to pronounce its verdict. As per the cause list published on the Supreme Court's website, a single judgement will be pronounced by Justice Aniruddha Bose. Gunmen attacked a US convoy in southeast Nigeria's Anambra State on Tuesday, police and a US official said, killing four people and abducting three others. Separatists who operate in the region have escalated their attacks in recent years, usually targeting police or government buildings. Eight persons were arrested for allegedly duping multiple banks to the tune of Rs 23 crore by floating over a dozen bogus companies and taking loans using forged documents like Aadhaar and PAN cards of non-existing employees, police said here on Tuesday. The bogus companies had opened the accounts of its non-existing employees and even deducted provident fund (PF) from their salaries in order to ensure that the existence of the firms is not put under doubt by banks in giving the loans, they said. The gang was busted by officials of the Phase 1 police station with the help of the local unit of the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Harish Chander said. Days after a Supreme Court's order giving it control over services, the Delhi government has asked its various departments to hold back action on directions of Lt Governor V K Saxena issued directly to them in recent months. After the court's judgement, directions were issued on May 12 by ministers-in-charge to departments concerned asking them to strictly follow transaction of business rules (TBR) and desist from putting up files before them through the chief secretary. Now, according to a circular issued on Monday by the Delhi government, the various departments have been asked to put on hold implementation of all the directions issued by the LG directly to them in the last few months. A teenager has been apprehended for allegedly killing an 8-year-old boy for ransom in Haryana's Sonipat on Tuesday, police said. "The victim lived in a housing society in Sonipat," Rishi Kant, SHO, Bahalgarh police station said. The child went missing from the residential society where he was last seen playing. According to police, the 15-year-old suspect demanded a ransom of Rs 6 lakh from the child's parents and left a handwritten note in this regard in their flat.  At least 15 people were killed in a bloody clash over the delimitation of a coal mine in the restive northwestern region of Pakistan on Monday, police said. The incident occurred between the Sunnykhel and Zarghun Khel tribes in the Darra Adam Khek area, around 35 km southwest of Peshawar, in Kohat district over the delimitation of the mine, they added. The bodies and those injured were shifted to a Peshawar hospital. A tractor-trailer and a van crashed on a highway in the northern Mexican state of Tamaulipas on Sunday morning, killing 13 people, local authorities said. The two vehicles crashed about half an hour outside of the state capital Ciudad Victoria and then caught on fire, the Tamaulipas' public security ministry said.
